</p><p>Job losses from April to June averaged 436,000 per month, compared with an average of 670,000 jobs lost per month from November to March.
</p><p>Employment in manufacturing fell by 136,000 last month, while the economy shed 79,000 construction jobs, and 118,000 positions in the professional and business services industry.
</p><p>Health care employment increased by 21,000 in June.
</p><p>The Bureau of Labor Statistics also says that the change in total nonfarm employment for April was revised from a loss of 504,000 to a loss of 519,000, and the change for May was revised from a loss of 345,000 to a loss of 322,000.
</p><p>On the Western Canadian Coal Corp. Bullboard Thursday before the numbers were released, 2fast4you said: “The Labor Department's employment report for June is due at 8:30 a.m. This will no doubt set the tone for the general markets, good or bad... I suspect considering Wednesdays numbers there is a better chance that they will disappoint. I hope I and others are wrong and there is a pleasant surprise though... Good luck today team[sic].”
</p><p>And made the following comment after the data was reported: “I was so hoping we were wrong. WILL make for an butt ugly day on the markets especially going into the long holiday weekend in the States...[sic]”
